Specialised support for startups (incorporation to fundraise) and NRIs (compliance, property, repatriation).
Anil Arora & Co.’s Startup & NRI practice runs the corporate, tax, FEMA, and accounting work for two groups whose needs sit at the intersection of all four: startups from incorporation through their early funding rounds, and non-residents — including overseas-based founders — managing compliance, property, and repatriation in India. Falling between the cracks of those four domains is costly, so we run the work end-to-end with a single point of accountability.
For startups, the engagement typically begins at incorporation and runs through the early funding rounds — DPIIT recognition, 80-IAC and angel-tax positions, ESOP design, cap-table maintenance, and investor reporting.
For NRIs, the engagement covers the year-round needs — NRO / NRE / FCNR account guidance, repatriation paperwork, property transactions, DTAA-aware return filing — without requiring the client to coordinate across multiple advisers.
What this covers
The bullets below describe what is typically in scope. Every engagement is scoped tightly in a written engagement letter before work begins.
Who it's for
Founders incorporating a new startup who want a single firm running the corporate, tax, FEMA, and accounting work from day one through the seed and Series-A rounds.
NRIs and Persons of Indian Origin with rental income, capital-gains events, inherited assets, or repatriation requirements in India who need an India-resident CA running the year-round compliance.
Returning Indians (R-NORs) and individuals leaving India who need residential-status planning and the associated bank account, tax, and asset-treatment changes handled cleanly.
Our approach
Startup engagements run on a fixed compliance calendar — ROC events, GST, TDS, payroll, and annual audit — with a separate workstream for cap-table and ESOP actions tied to board approvals. NRI engagements run on a yearly cycle starting with residential-status determination, income-source mapping, and DTAA position before return filing. Both run on a single point of contact at the firm with the proprietor’s oversight on substantive positions. Working papers and supporting documents are retained per the firm’s internal quality manual.
